Veterans Day Hamburgers Post 184

Post 184 Members, Guests, and Friends!

Our 2026 season of BBQs, public events, and great food rolls on!  We aren’t done yet, lots more coming up in September!

We at the American Legion Post 184 had a great time celebrating summer with Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Korean War Armistice Day, featuring great BBQs, Live music, and open events for members, friends, and family.  We would like to thank everyone for making all of these events such a great festive days of food, fun, and live music.  As always, volunteers, public and membership donations, and fellowship make each of these events special.  Thanks, everyone!

Our July 4th BBQ was a huge success this year, with a great turnout. Everyone was in good spirits, celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday.  July 4th, or Independence Day, commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress, officially severing the 13 colonies’ ties to Great Britain. While independence was voted on July 2, July 4 became the date celebrated as the birth of the United States. It was declared a federal holiday in 1938.  Hope you were able to stop by and enjoy the great food, we thank everyone for their efforts in making the event such a success.

On Sunday, July 26th, American Legion South Bay Post 184 celebrated  Korean War Armistice Day  with a great BBQ. The celebration included live music, great food, and special guests.  Thanks to the volunteers, guests, and members for attending, helping out, and making the event a success.

The always festive and fun Labor Day BBQ, with great food, Live Music, and a day of celebrating all of our labors, was a lot of fun as always. Thanks to all for your help and for coming to the event!  Lots of great food and fun.

We are happy to announce our 2026 Cigar Night in support of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation (VA&R), a core advocacy and service program managed by The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. The event will be held at The American Legion South Bay Post 184 on September 23rd, beginning at 5 PM.  The $25 buy-in includes 1 premium cigar, 1 additional cigar, and a shot of cognac. Pork sliders, chips, and dessert will also be available for $10 per plate.  Remember, our public CALENDAR PAGE lists all our events, meetings, and get-togethers!

On Tuesday, November 10th at 6 PM, the American Legion South Bay Post 184 cordially invites you to attend a cake-cutting ceremony in honor of the 251st Birthday of the United States Marine Corps.

The Marine Corps birthday cake-cutting ceremony matters to all Marines, as it renews each Marine’s commitment to the Corps and the Corps’ commitment to our nation’s quest for peace and freedom worldwide.

The Mameluke sword gets its name from the cross hilt and ivory grip design, similar to swords used for centuries by Ottoman warriors. The Marine Corps tradition of carrying this sword dates from Lieutenant Presley O’Bannon’s assault of Derna, Tripoli, in 1805.  Please join us in this celebration on Tuesday, November 10th at 1800 hours (6:00 PM).

You can expect great BBQs & celebrations throughout the year, including Labor Day and, of course, Veterans Day.  These BBQ celebrations are very popular, and we thank everyone in advance for your support and participation.  Each event includes potlucks, all donated by volunteers.  Volunteers are always appreciated and needed; they are the backbone of any great organization. What a great effort our volunteers put into each and every event!  Thanks in advance to all of the volunteers who make these events successful.
