Post 184 Members, Guests, Neighbors, and Friends,
American Legion South Bay, Post 184, will celebrate Korean War Veterans Day on Sunday, July 27th, from 12 PM to 3 PM! On July 27, 2009, the 111th Congress of the United States enacted the Korean War Veterans Recognition Act. Post 184’s Korean Veterans Day will honor those who served in the Korean War with a celebration featuring a BBQ, a color guard, medal presentations, and live music—a special day for our veterans who fought in the Korean War.
The American Legion, Sons of the American Legion, and our Legion Auxiliary will provide tasty hamburgers, hot dogs, and hot links for everyone to enjoy. We will set up tables and chairs outside, under the comforting shade of our Coastal Sycamore Tree and pop-up tents. Our ROTC Marine Corps unit from Redondo Beach High School will present our colors. A special guest, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Los Angeles, will attend and present the Ambassador for Peace Medal to our Combat Veterans. Our event is open to the public, and we encourage friends, neighbors, and guests to join us for this inaugural event here at Post 184.
Our Korean War Veterans BBQ is a potluck event! We sincerely appreciate donations of side dishes and food to contribute to the celebration. We’d like to ask attendees to bring a favorite dish to share with everyone. Suggestions for potluck side dishes include Korean dishes, salads, beans, and desserts. Please let the bar staff know what you can bring; you can stop by Post 184 to let them know, or call (310) 316-6718 to leave a message. Thank you in advance for supporting this special event! Additionally, live music by Jerry Romano and Friends will be provided for everyone’s enjoyment.
Our parking lot fills up quickly, so we recommend parking on Pearl Street and walking down the driveway. For maps and parking directions, click on our Maps and Directions Page here. The inside bar will open at noon on Sunday, July 27th, for cold beverages of your choice. Monetary donations are always welcome—there will be donation canisters where you can drop them off. All donations will support our Post Unit’s efforts with various Veterans and community initiatives.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday, July 27th, for this inaugural event celebrating the Veterans who served during the Korean War. Thank you for being so supportive!
