VIETNAM VETS DAY

Post 184 Legion South Bay Vietnam Veterans BBQ

Post 184 Members, Friends, and Supporters,

We are pleased to announce the First Annual Vietnam War Veterans Day BBQ on Sunday, March 29th, from 12 PM to 3 PM, our first event of the year here at Post 184 and the first of its kind to specifically celebrate Vietnam Veterans. Each of the American Legion Units, Legionaires, Auxiliary, Legion Riders, and Sons of The American Legion will participate to provide you and your friends with delicious food, including hamburgers, hot dogs, and hot links, grilled to perfection.

This will be a fun and enjoyable event! Lots of tables and chairs set up in our large backyard area for everyone to relax—plenty of space and comfort both in the backyard and inside. Abundant shade under our giant coastal sycamore tree and pop-up tents to help keep everyone cool and comfortable. There will be live music from Jerry Romano and Friends; we always look forward to Jerry and his great band. To start our event, the ROTC from Redondo Union High School will present the colors.

This inaugural Vietnam Veterans BBQ is open to the public; friends, neighbors, and guests are encouraged to attend. The BBQ will be a potluck event; We greatly appreciate donations of side dishes and food to add to the celebration. We ask that folks bring a favorite dish to share with the rest of the guests.  Ideas for potluck side dishes are salads, beans, and desserts. We appreciate all the excellent dishes everyone brings. Please don’t hesitate to drop by Post 184 and let the bar staff know what you are bringing, or call (310) 316-6718 and leave a message. Your delicious side dishes make the event that much more special for all of the attendees. Thanks in advance for your support of this inaugural event.

Our parking lot fills up quickly, so we recommend parking on Pearl Street and walking down our private driveway. For maps and parking directions, click on our Maps and Directions Page here. We recommend that those needing walking assistance park on Pearl Street and walk down the private driveway, as the stairs on Camino Real are difficult to navigate.

The inside bar will be open for cold beverages of your choice beginning at 11:30 AM, with food service beginning at 12 Noon. Monetary donations to Post 184 are always appreciated—large round canisters are placed around the facility where you can drop off your contributions. All donations go to support our Veterans and other community programs.

VOLUNTEERS: We need you! Volunteers are needed throughout the day, including setting up tents and chairs, managing side dishes, cleaning utensils and food containers, taking out trash, and cleaning the grounds. To sign up for an hour or two, or for any other questions at all, please contact Mr. Jesse Leal at his email, post184vicecommander@gmail.com

We hope to see all of you on  Sunday, March 29th, from 12 Noon to 3 PM. Our Legionaires, Sons Of The American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, Legion Riders, and our entire Post wish everyone well on this day of remembrance for our Vietnam Veterans. Everyone here at Post 184 looks forward to a great day with you all. See you on March 29th; the Bar opens at 11 AM, with BBQ and food service starting at Noon.
