Saying ALOHA to Jim - photos

All the members at the Post were saddened to learn of the passing of one of our long time WW2 members Chuck Luttrell, affectionately known as "Fish".

His sense of humor and engaging personality was always a welcomed addition when he would stop by the Canteen and visit with his fellow Legionnaires.

A wake was held in his home on Saint Patrick's Day and was well attended by friends & Comrades who wore 'the green'.

After retiring as a machinist in the local aerospace industry Earl joined the American Legion South Bay Post 184 on March 24th, 1992.

Immediately after his initiation Earl started to mark his mark with a decade long commitment to insure the public face of our Post was immaculate. His almost daily trips to Post 184 allowed him to greet visiting Comrades and make countless friends from around the nation.

Earl never wavered from his self-assigned gardening duties until his recent decline in health. He served on the Post 184 Executive Committee for six years. His input during these years helped insure the financial health & stability of Post 184.

Earl's warm personality and sense of humor will be missed. His dedication to the Legion and Post 184 cannot be replace.

In accordance to his wishes, a Toast to Earl was held in the Post Canteen on January 15th.

Craig was a Vietnam veteran and served in the Army as a PFC from June 1961 to October 1965. He was a retired firefighter for the City Of Vernon, CA.

Since his duties as Commander Craig has been an active member in Post 184. His expertise in Legion policies and procedure has been a valuable asset to the Post.

Craig's charming personality and friendship will be missed. His dedication to the Legion and Post 184 cannot be replace.

There will be a Celebration of Craig's Life this Friday, August 10th, at the Post. His family has asked people to dress in SF 49ers or UCLA colors or apparel in honor of my Craig's favorite teams that he loved and lived to watch. Click Here to View Images of Event
