James Rollins Fowler was born on October 17, 1948 in Torrance, California. He graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1966 and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1967 to 1971. He made his home in Maui, Hawaii from 1972 to 2002, where he raised his two sons. While living in Maui, Jim was very active in youth sports where he started a youth basketball league in Kihei. He also loved cooking and was a graduate of the Culinary Institute in Connecticut.
Jim loved the beach and helped run a sport fishing boat while living in Maui. Most of all, he adored his children and family. He was a loving and devoted father to his sons, Keith and James. Jim eventually returned to Redondo Beach where he spent time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Fowler. He is survived by his mother, Jackie Fowler Coury; his sons, James and Keith Fowler; brothers, Jon (Chris) Fowler, Rob (Penny) Fowler; and sister, Janis (Tom) Yott. He will also be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews and many long time friends both here and on the Islands.
Jim will soon make his final trip to Hawaii and join with the other spirits of his beloved Maui.
